We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Department Supervisor to lead our CNC operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities within the CNC department, ensuring efficient labor allocation, adherence to company standards, and supervision of manufacturing products. This role is critical in achieving key performance indicators such as safety, quality, on-time delivery, labor efficiency, overtime cost, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: Monitor CNC operations to ensure compliance with product control plans, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Production Management: Review production orders and schedule department priorities to meet delivery dates. Ensure the department has sufficient capacity (labor and machine) to meet current and future customer demands.
  • System Management: Utilize the PLEX MRP system to review production and operating reports, resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to minimize costs and prevent delays.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with the maintenance team to communicate machine issues and coordinate preventative maintenance actions.
  • Standardization: Develop or revise standard operational and working practices, ensuring compliance through regular observation of workers.
  • Quality and Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with Quality Assurance and Engineering departments to implement corrective actions when issues arise.
  • Employee Management: Resolve employee concerns, review absenteeism and production, and monitor ongoing performance. Conduct performance appraisals and recommend pay adjustments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continual improvement initiatives and apply lean manufacturing principles effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage CNC operators and setup personnel, overseeing the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in line with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, directing work, appraising performance, and resolving problems.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Vocational, trade school, or technical certificate in a relevant field is advantageous.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of related experience in CNC machining, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience as a CNC operator and setup.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).

Skills:

  • Proficient in basic mathematics and report creation related to production, quality, and cost.
  • Ability to read prints and understand GD&T.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC equipment, tooling, and machining techniques.
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and CMM.
