Position Title: Regional Perishable Retail BuyerClassification Status: Non-ExemptWork Status: Full-TimeReports to: Regional Grocery Manager
Essential Job Duties:
- Support regional managers with writing orders and ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Maintain pricing and review department margins regularly.
- Replenish products through efficient buying procedures, ensuring timely and accurate product orders to monitor inventory turnover.
- Ensure the product mix meets a variety of customer dietary needs and requests, and source new product placements.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and ensure proper rotation to maintain high standards.
- Maintain accurate department signage and pricing, and build displays based on movement, promotions, profitability, value, and regional guidance.
- Participate actively in regional sales promotions.
- Educate department managers on new, local, and private label products.
- Follow department procedures for product preparation, storage, rotation, and stocking.
- Maintain and monitor department waste, spoilage, and compliance logs.
- Adhere to established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with vendors to secure deals and competitive pricing.
- Build and lead teams, providing training and support to staff as needed.
- Ability to commute between 3 locations as part of the role.
- Use advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, to manage inventory sheets, department records, and related data.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned, subject to change without notice.
Skills:
- High energy, enthusiastic, and demonstrates an affinity for natural food products and company values.
- Strong ability to work independently while collaborating with others as necessary.
- Ability to sell proactively and understand product differentiations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in relevant computer applications, including email and operations software.
- Professional and reliable with excellent team-building and leadership capabilities.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the grocery field, preferably within a natural foods grocery store.
- 1+ years of experience in buying or merchandising with a focus on perishable products.
- Demonstrated success in building vendor relationships and securing deals.
- Team-oriented with a strong focus on customer service.
Work Hours: Availability requirements include; but are not limited to; days, evenings, weekends, & holidays.
Work Location: 3 location
Pay frequency: Every week
