Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing accounts payable, payroll, and cash receipt processes, leading process improvement initiatives, and providing expert guidance on accounting matters. The Accounting Manager provides excellent customer service to our employees, while working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Controller.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead accounts payable and payroll teams, and cash receipt processes.
  • Provide advanced support and resolution for complex inquiries and issues.
  • Oversee processing of outgoing payments in compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local payroll tax withholding payments and returns.
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing for non-bargain employees and serve as the back-up.
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate on/off-boarding of bargain and non-bargain employees.
  • Assist with payroll union audits and prepare comprehensive reports for management.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments on projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee and assist with year-end accounting processes, including 1099 and W-2 filings.
  • Assist with reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement accounting policy and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to multi-state sales, use, and payroll taxation.
  • Identify and drive process improvements.
  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Hire and train new accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience in accounting.
  • Computer proficiency and expertise in Microsoft products (Excel and Word) and Vista, preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members.
