Job Description:

This position provides service in all aspects of employee relations functions for the E&G office, which includes:  serves in a consulting role for HR Liaisons in the colleges/units about progressive discipline, recommends appropriate level of action and drafts counseling and discipline letters; supports performance management and use of UF’s performance management system, UF Engaged; shares best practices in employee/supervisor relations, including effective coaching and counseling practices; interprets and communicates applicable employment laws, UF regulations, collective bargaining agreements, policies and procedures related to various types of employees (e.g., faculty, staff, etc.); and provides support for other employment actions, such formal complaint and grievance processes, layoffs, non-reappointments, leaves of absence, etc. 

Serves as the back-up to the Workers Compensation Specialist, which may include assisting with documentation of claims, answering wage/benefit questions and communicating with the State of Florida, AmeriSys (vendor) and employees and supervisors across campus.  This position may also assist with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Program (mainly as it relates to positions that require a CDL drivers license).

This position involves a high amount of customer contact, over the phone, via e-mail, via Zoom meetings and, at times, in person.

A criminal background will be conducted.

Expected Salary:

56,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

HRCI or SHRM certification preferred (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP)

Ability to collect, evaluates, and analyzes data relating to employee relations activities.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to work with confidential information.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments meeting all time constraints.

Ability to establish effective working relationships.

Demonstrated judgment and ability to problem solve complex situations.

Knowledge of human resources management principles and techniques.

Ability to apply rules, policies and procedures.

Ability to learn HRIS systems, plus proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
