Job Description:

General Accounting and Financial Reporting is currently seeking a highly dedicated and experienced individual to serve as an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in providing the CFO Division and UF Enterprise with expertise in the areas of general ledger, reconciliation, financial analysis, reporting, and training and outreach. This position works closely with UF Enterprise personnel of various levels to ensure the integrity of the general ledger.

Examples of Work (These are not all inclusive, nor do they cover the full extent of the duties performed):

This position oversees accurate and timely month and year-end closing, including validation of the monthly financial reports and ensures accurate completion of all General Accounting work. The incumbent manages journal entry, inter-departmental transfer, commitment control, and other accounting functions to maintain the integrity of the General Ledger. As well as obtains an understanding of the Annual Financial Report and the reporting needs. Then, acts in coordination with the Assistant Controller for General Accounting and Financial Reporting to ensure seamless interaction and operations.

This position provides accounting guidance and support to university departments regarding their reporting needs and reconciliations and ensures a customer-service based environment. The successful candidate will conduct workshops and trainings for employees and evaluate business processes for effectiveness in providing quality customer service to all relevant stakeholders. This position is responsible in resolving complex customer issues and answers questions while building and maintaining relationships by collaborating across units and departments to foster trust, commitment, accountability, and results.

They will also assist in monitoring and implementation of accounting principles in compliance with state, regulatory, and industry guidelines. Investigate any discrepancies within the general ledger to ensure integrity of the data.

Provides leadership for direct report(s) and student interns, including effective performance management, identification of training needs and professional development plans. Creates an innovative and continuous improvement focused environment by seeking out and encouraging ideas for process change. Actively supports and contributes to the CFO Division commitment to inclusive excellence.

Expected Salary:

$65,000 – $80,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a State of Florida Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred, but not required.
  • This position requires a strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, specifically as these principles relate to college and university technical accounting, fund accounting and financial reporting.
